Buena Vista boasts two distinctive town areas: Historic Downtown and the South Main neighborhood.

With both a wild-west past and an outdoor soul, stores offer everything for mountain living and exploring. The historic downtown offers several art galleries with unique handmade finds. You’ll find gear, gifts, books, specialty and consignment items too.

The kayak-centric South Main neighborhood boasts imaginative boutique shops, hotels, and art galleries with handcrafted creations. This area is located right on the Arkansas River with a world class whitewater park.

Buena Vista has mountain views, wide valleys, alpine lakes and more than 100 miles of trails. There are over a dozen trailheads leading you on scenic hiking experiences. Venture out to the famous Colorado Trail, the Continental Divide and the 14er Summit trailheads. Take a Sunday drive, or better yet, rent a Jeep and get up to the high country. The Collegiate Peaks Scenic Byway runs through Buena Vista andfor 57 miles of absolute splendor.
